More Than Picky Eating: Selective Eating Disorder (SED) and Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)

This full-day, in-depth training session supports families and professionals to develop a deeper understanding of restrictive eating, including Selective Eating Disorder (SED) and Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID).

The training explores in detail how anxiety, sensory sensitivities, fear and past experiences can affect children’s eating. Participants will gain a clearer understanding of why food can be especially challenging for some children and how well-intentioned approaches can sometimes increase pressure or distress.

The day provides practical guidance, including strategies to reduce pressure around food, support emotional regulation and promote positive, supportive eating environments. There will be opportunities to explore real-life examples and consider how approaches can be adapted to individual children.

This session is suitable for those seeking a more comprehensive and applied understanding of restrictive eating and how to support children at home and in schools
